American Manufacturing in the Gateway to the West

Made at the turn of the century by Bridge Tool Co. of St. Louis, MO, this cleaver is a pure piece of American history. Bridge Tool Co. manufactured all variety of tools for Shapleigh's Hardware, a large manufacturing company based in St. Louis, which was a  major hub of American industry at the time. Show your vegetables who's the boss with this whopper of American Steel.

This Bridge Tool Co. 8" cleaver bears the original maker's stamp on the blade and a new Ironwood handle.

Living Americana: Practical Artifacts from the Golden Age of Steel

At New West KnifeWorks, we cherish the tradition of knife-making even as we forge new paths of innovation. Our refurbished cleavers come from an era where extraordinary steel was extremely cheap. To make cleavers of this mass and quality of steel today would be prohibitively expensive to produce from scratch. But our makers search out these diamonds in the rough at old antique shows, flea markets, or grandma’s garage, refurbishing the blades and handles to give them a new, improved life for the 21st Century.

Key Features

Knife Art

The Teton Edge Santoku represents a revolution in the history of blade design. The "Edge" replaces the traditional santoku "dimples" with an etched semblance of the Teton Mountain range.

High Performance

As with the dimples, the etching helps the blade slice smoothly through food without sticking- but the Teton Edge does it even better.

American Made

G-Fusion handles are made with G10: an aerospace-grade, fiberglass epoxy composite material that is virtually bomb-proof.
